Bio

The Yars formed in Kent, Ohio in August of 2003.

After having played out with drummer Toby Mackenzie in their duo project, Awesome Possum, guitarist/singer/songwriter Dwight Henson set out to fill a much-needed void by finally recruiting a bass player. Yars at the Dome Within just a song or two, Dwight knew he had found more than just a random bass player ... he had found John Rockwood. The fusion of these two musical masterminds catapulted previously lackluster tunes into inspired nerd rock mayhem. With the addition of completely new material (as well as a new bolder sound) it became evident that this was indeed a new band and that band was The Yars.

The Yars have played a large variety of shows in Northeast Ohio for years, including opening up for Local H in Cleveland. Drummers came and went. Eventually Rockwood left the band. But Dwight kept it going.

In 2007, Dwight and Rockwood reunited to record the long-anticipated debut album, "Bittersweet". With Denny Archer manning the drums and Rockwood cranking out his signature bass lines, Dwight knew he had finally gotten the right people on board.

With unrelenting energy, The Yars play their music loud and fast. Pop-culture references are bountiful in their on-stage banner, as are allusions to the bands' eclectic rock influences. It's this unique blend of influences that has prompted many fans to describe the band in a variety of amusing amalgamations of those influences. Fans have described The Yars as:
